The fishing conditions are very different from we are used to.
The canes have special characteristics that we must look when acquiring
an equipment of fly fishing in the sea. The wind is probably the most
important factor.
The size of the flies is probably another factor that we will considerate,
because some species will need flies in fishhooks 1/0 on, making us
use stronger canes and of a higher numbering to which we are usual
for fishing in rivers.
The most used equipment is an equipment # 8 of quick action and of
9 feet long. An equipment of #8 will allow us to handle in a adequate
way species as Sawfish, Basses, Soles, juerels.
The canes of quick action are the most effective since they allow
us to effect longest throws and to offer a major resistance to the
fish and to allow a better hooking of the fishhook. It is advisable
that the cane
has a handle of fight in the low part of the cane since when we catch
a good piece it will be necessary to support the base of the cane
in the chest to make it easier the fight to with the fish.
Another function of the "but" or handle of fight is to keep
far away the reel from our body when this one turns quickly for the
fish's running. A tangle of the handle of the reel with our clothes
can signify the loss of the fish.
Our equipment must be prepared to detain a frantic fish's running
when this one feels caught.
The reel will have to be made from high quality materials that resist
the erosion because of the salty water and they must have a brake
brake which allow to be easily fitted to the fish's needs.
The leader. As it's possible from fluoride of carbon in lengths of
9 feet and in the Sawfish case, we will need to use a special tippet
that it's known as " Shock Tippet ". This tippet is united
at the end of the leader and generally it has a length between 30
and 40 cms. this Shock Tippet will have to be a wire Shock Tippet
or a steel Shock Tippet.
This Equipment will allow us to handle the majority of the species
that are fished in the Mocha Island.
