Where are we?
|

Mocha Island is located in Chiles coast,
in front of the limit between Bio-Bio region and Araucanía
region, 34 kilometres far from Tirúa city. Administratively
it depends on Bio-Bio region. Its geographical location is 38º2306
south latitude and 73º5200 west longitude.

Its main characteristic is its oval shape, in whose center raises
a mountain range, whose highest place reaches 300 meters and its
covered by a thick and almost impenetrable native forest, where
OLIVE TREES, MYRTLES, FERNS, LAURELS and ULMOS abound in it most
diverse varieties. This rich virgin jungle offers the ideal habitat
for birds such as: PIPENOS, TORCAZAS, BANDURRIAS y CASTILIAN FARDELAS,
and its important the presence of autochthonous mammals as
the Pudú.

Characteristics

The island, in its south
part, is surrounded by lots of rocks that shape numerous islets, which
allow the development of an abundant marine fauna with spectaculars
sea lions colonies, where a photograph safari will be always the best
testimony of the visit to this incredible place of dream.

 The
surrounding beaches of white sand offer temperatures between 18
and 20 Celsius degrees and they are ideal for the sports practicing,
as fishing, sail windsurf, skin-diving, or simply the compilation
of marine remains as small rocks of diverse shapes and colours,
beautiful shells of the most varied sizes and species and a historical
range of archaeological curiosities from numerous shipwrecks that
took place during the past decades, where the remains of the Santiago
boat stand out.
The gastronomic exquisitenesses from the Mocha Islands sea
are a real pleasure to the palate. Sea urchins, snails, crabs and
locos are of the test of the most demanding chefs that constant

Access Routes

Since 1990 the island offers to
is more than 800 inhabitants and numerous tourists, an excellent
